Felting soap

I just received two packages of roving that I purchased from Maine Woods Yarn & Fiber on etsy. They are absolutely beautiful. I can't wait to see how they look on soap. I am going to try out felting some of my soap tomorrow. I will let you know how it turns out. I will be following the instruction that are posted at Mielke's Fiber Arts they have a great tutorial with lots of photos. have any of you tried out felting soap? If so how do you like it?

  1. I've felted some....but I'm really no good at it! I don't have a 'felting board' and it gets REALLY slippery in your hands making it hard to get the felt to stick together and cover all the soap with no bare spots. I can't wait to see how your turn out! The first roving reminds me of camo!

  2. I felted a bar today using the yellow roving. I don't think I got the ends fully integrated with each other, but I think it was probably due to using too much roving. I also do not have a felting/wash board. I really can not believe how sudsy the felting made the soap. I can't wait to give it a try in the shower! I had Dylan take some photos for me so they will be uploaded either tonight or tomorrow.
