Working on my holiday inventory

I have been developing my holiday inventory. Since this is my first year in business, I am still planning out my product lines and seasonal items. I have been considering putting together more gift baskets for sale, but I don't know if that is what people prefer when buying soap as a gift. Give me some opinions here...what do you prefer-purchasing a ready-made gift basket or buying individual items and giving them that way or making your own gift basket?

  1. Hm, I think it depends on my mood, and also how close to the "deadline" date I'm buying stuff. The closer to the date I need to give the gift, I more I'd prefer a basket already packaged up so I don't have to spend extra time choosing things to put together a unique basket.

I imagine baskets with a target audience (such as for boys under 10 or for pregnant women) would do well. I'd like to hear what the professional soapers say. :)

  2. I'm a serious soapaholic. I love them, adore them, collect them, sniff them frequently. (LOL) My family knows this so they purchase gift totes, baskets, crates, etc. for me. I'm game for trying anything. Cute packaging is really great to receive. Personally, I think a bag/box etc. with a larger variety of smaller size items is awesome. That way there's a lot to play with. And if you love what you get as a gift, you can go back to that soapmaker and treat yourself to more. Hope this helps!

  3. I like buying single products and then combining them myself but I could be in the minority =)

  4. Thanks for your comments. I think I will try to offer a few gift packages for those that do not like to put together their own baskets.
